KAT Traxx 3-Axis Accelerometer Radar Detector Review
If you're playing a game of "spot the odd one out" - this unit will probably be your winner. Manufactured under the brand "K.A.T" - we think that this independent radar detector will give the other more mainstream companies a run for their money.
We recently put the KAT Traxx 3-Axis Accelerometer Radar Detector to the test, looking at performance statistics in band detection and scrambling fields - to see whether the product would gain a buy or avoid recommendation from us. Our findings are included below.

KAT Traxx 3-Axis Accelerometer Radar Detector Specifications & Features
Band Detection
Just like all of the other top radar detector models available on the market, the KAT Traxx 3-Axis Accelerometer Radar Detector is able to pick up broadcasting bands including K, Ka, and the latest addition Ku. X band has actually been turned off by default - possibly because this is a slightly older and more obsolete band these days.
Laser detection is also a strong feature of the KAT Traxx 3-Axis Accelerometer Radar Detector - with a built in scrambler working in tandem to completely disrupt any laser signals fired at your vehicle. VG-2 stealth is also permanently turned on, with Spectre protection in the background if needed.
Display & Layout
The KAT Traxx 3-Axis Accelerometer Radar Detector looks very bare - with not a lot of branding or sign writing across the unit. The buttons on the top of the unit have barely visible labels (white text), but once you get to know where each button is located, you won't need to look anyway.
The screen backlighting is blue, with black text to contrast. This is a good combination at night, but is a little hard to see during the day. We had to rely more on the audio tones during daylight hours to know exactly what was going on.
Unique Technology
Not only is the KAT Traxx 3-Axis Accelerometer Radar Detector a radar detector and scrambler - it's also a safety device too. The unit contains a special accelerometer which measures lateral (side to side) g forces are you are going around corners. If the detector notes that you are too fast around the corner, it will warn you to immediately slow down.
As for the usefulness of this innovation, we think it's probably a bit to be warned as you are going around the corner. Maybe the only situation where this would help is if the corner tightens without you knowing and a signal is sounded at the beginning of the bend.
Performance & Range
The manufacturer has clearly chosen performance as the key field of focus for this device. With a 3 mile detection range, the KAT Traxx 3-Axis Accelerometer Radar Detector is clearly better than 90% of other radar detectors out there on the market.
Furthermore, given the current price, you are probably getting better value for money here than with any other design label radar detector available.
Our Rating of the KAT Traxx 3-Axis Accelerometer Radar Detector
Our experience with the KAT Traxx 3-Axis Accelerometer Radar Detector was a positive one, and we are pleased to see an independent company producing a unit of such high calibre. This machine definitely gets 5 stars and a buy recommendation from us.
