Reader beware: this machine is expensive and extraordinary. The Escort Passport 9500ci Radar Detector is the first "custom installed" device we have reviewed to date - making it a slightly special product to have here in our office. Unlike previous radar detectors which have been stuck to the inside of the windscreen, this device is actually installed on the outside of the vehicle - with a user display panel conveniently placed in the dashboard.

Band Detection
Escort haven't missed a beat with the Escort Passport 9500ci Radar Detector. Support for Ka and K bands are standard, as well as the newer Ku band and X band. Ka band on this model is superwide, but the digital signal processing done in the main head unit will filter out any false or unnecessary signals.
Let's talk about signal quality for a moment. Obviously, the better the signal quality, the better the machine is able to do its job and inform you of oncoming Police units.
Because the detection units are placed outside in the grill and at the rear under the bumper - there is absolutely nothing to obstruct a band. That means the band can be recognized faster, and the driver (you) can be alerted in record time.
